Network Security Engineer

Job Role

Our Security Engineers work closely with our customers and responsible for managing Layer3’s information security environment and recommending and implementing security measures to safeguard enterprise valuable information assets. You will work in the Security Operations Center (SOC) team as an escalation point for complex problem analysis and incident troubleshooting. This will require fundamental knowledge of specific products and the ability to understand how the products might be utilized in customer environments as well as our converged network and cloud infrastructure.

This role also requires a solid understanding of networking and routing protocols and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. This role may require regular touch points with the customer base and also requires strong communication skills to translate business requirements into technical implementation. As a 3rd level engineer you would also be engaged in other activities to support the SOC, Sales, Professional Services and other Layer3 teams as needed.

Duties Include:

• Consultative engagements with customers
• Device maintenance, troubleshooting & restoration
• Onboarding onto the Layer3 platform
• Escalation point for device related issues
• Service reporting and regular customer meetings
• Third level SOC technical support


• Minimum of Bachelors degree in Computer Science / Security / Other with 2+ years’ experience as a security engineer
• Experience and good working knowledge of several of the following technologies: Fortigate/FortiAnalyzer/FortiAuthenticator, Juniper SRX, Cisco Switches/Routers/Firewalls, Sourcefire IPS, FireEye, Blue Coat Technologies

Experience, Skills & Competencies
• Three to Five years’ relevant work experience
• IT Security/Audit Certifications (CISSP, CEH, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001 etc)
• IT Security Management/ Information and Application Protection
• Business Application, Enterprise Infrastructure Knowledge
• Knowledge and experience with routers, firewalls, perimeter security concepts, switching, network architecture, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Unified Threat Management (UTM), SIEM appliances, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and defense in depth principles
• Deep understanding of the TCP/IP and NetFlow
• Versatility in Information Security Management Applications e.g SIEM, Junos Analytics, STRM, SVAT, Metasploit
